Black Bears

Last week we went to the Tulsa Zoo. This zoo is so close to Owasso that we have a Zoo pass and go several times every month. We never have seen the black bears moving around they are ALWAYS sleeping but this time they were pacing and had just gotten out of the water.

Scavenger Hunt~Lightpoles

The theme for this Friday is lightpoles. This is a bronze casting of a lightpole from the Timmy and Cindy series in Owasso and the real boy in the picture is my son Kylan. For more info about joining the scavenger hunt click here.

Cross at First United Methodist Church

The First United Methodist Church in Owasso has put up this large cross out near their pond. The kids and I went out and took pics of them in thier Hanboks (Korean traditional dress) and they each wanted a picture by the cross. Of course this cross is nothing like the cross we saw in Groom, TX but it's still a nice sized cross.

Centennial Park

We went to play at Centennial Park and our little monkey just loved playing on the monkey bars. We love Centennial Park because it has 4 playgrounds, 3 miles of walking, biking trails, bathrooms, a couple of ponds and usually not many people are there.

Owasso is growing

Owasso is supposedly one of the fastest growing cities in Oklahoma. Well, it does seem like buildings are going up all over town. This is going to be the new First Bank of Owasso building and won't be finished until spring 2010. It's supposed to be like 5 stories tall...that's pretty tall for Owasso....we are just a small town! Anyway, it's nice not to have to drive into Tulsa for everything.

I found a site that hosts a weekly scavenger hunt and I thought it would be fun to play along and hopefully to help me think outside the box! Anyway if you want to see blogs on the hunt here is the link

Today hunt is bugs but I chose a spider. Does anyone know what kind of spider this is? It was big and scary looking!

Deck the town in pink to show support for Palmer family

Haley Palmer, 12, lost her battle with cystic fibrosis on June 13, 2008.Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18 at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 19 at the First Baptist Church Owasso. Graveside services will follow at Fairview in Owasso.The family is requesting that everyone wear bright pink to the funeral. This is going to be a celebration of Haley's life and pink was her favorite color. They would like to make it the pinkest occasion that anyone has ever seen!To show support for the family, place a pink ribbon on trees, your fence or car antenna. Let's paint the town pink.

This eagle was carved out of a tree trunk in Owasso over by the Police station. I just liked the look of it and wanted to share!

Bird Creek floods!

For the second time this year, Bird Creek has overflowed its banks and flooded Mingo between 76th St. and 66th

Discovery Festivus

Today the church that we have been visiting had a special Father's Day Festivus. It was so much fun. They had all kinds of jupiter jumps for the kids, mini horses, a mechanical bull, food and lots of other fun things. We had a great time and were able to meet a bunch of people that we don't know.

Little House on the Prairie

We went to the Little House on the Prairie for the Prairie Days Festival. We had such a great time! It's not in Owasso, OK it's about 90 miles away just outside of Indenpendence, KS.

Berry pickin time

We went berry picking yesterday and it was just the perfect time. The blackberries were nice, plump and juicy! Oh, they were so yummy and we are making a cobbler with them tonight! Click here for more info.

Tiger lily

I have always loved tiger lily's and this year a bunch of mine bloomed and looked so pretty until that Sunday storm tore them up. I took this picture the day before the storm!!!

Funtastic Island

Owasso has so many parks but one of our favorites is just up the street from our house. We walk to it all of the time. Funtasic island says it all!

Owasso rain storm, AGAIN!!!

We had another storm today and yes it flooded out street AGAIN!!! Check out the car across the street being flooded. My husband went and helped them push it out of the water. Really bad straight winds 70-80MPS are blowing right now at least we don't have any tornadoes

headed our way!
